The structure of the MacBook Pro 17 consists of a all-in-one casing created from a single sheet of Aluminium. Due to this design, the 17-inch MacBook is slimmer and weighs less than the model that it replaces.

In addition to the weight savings, the MacBook is stronger, with increased rigidity. Making these changes to the design of the MacBook didn’t mean that Apple’s designers couldn’t make some design improvements. This model features a high-res widescreen usign LED-backlit technology, in addition to a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. This combination allows for a greater colour range as well as an improved colour contrast ratio.

Unlike the previous trackpad button, then new model includes a glass trackpad, allowing for a significantly larger tracking area. Combined with new Apple Multitouch technology, mouse usability is improved significantly.

On a single charge, the new battery can go for up to eight hours, with the ability to recharge 1,000 times, which is 3-4 times more recharges than is possible for notebooks on average.

Normally, a notebook is designed from a number of parts. The new Macbook differs in that the new case is designed with a single piece of aluminium, which is crafted into the basic shell, including the keyboard layout

The glass Multi-Touch trackpad offers around 40% more of a tracking area than the previous mousepad design. As with an iPhone, using different finger combinations allows users to scroll up and down, zoom in and out and rotate images.

The improvements in the design result in a more useable keyboard too. Due to the keyboard shell being cut perfectly to fit the keys, typing is improved. An illuminated keyboard ensures that you can type properly in situations with reduced light.

LED Display

The LED display provides the user with colour resolution that previously was only possible on Apple desktops. The resolution of the MacBook Pro 17 is 1920 x 1200, allowing the user the ability to watch high definition video in its native (1920 x 1080) resolution. The improved screen provides up to 60 percent more colour range than previous versions, with improved contrast.
The glass pad is more durable than the previous pad design.
